The development of banning the halal-certified edible products in UP came after an FIR was filed by the UP Police against a company and a few organizations for allegedly exploiting the religious sentiments of people in the wake of increasing sales by labeling forged halal certificates. Reportedly, the case has been filed against entities such as Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Halal Trust Delhi, Halal India Private Limited Chennai, Jamiat Ulama Maharashtra, Halal Council of India Mumbai, and others. The FIR shed light on concerns over a large-scale conspiracy to allegedly decrease the sale of products from companies lacking the halal certificate.
