The big breaking headline coming up straight from Rajasthan is that the incumbent Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has executed his right to vote. In addition, the senior leader of the state Sachin Pilot also cast his vote. As mentioned, today the voting is happening in the state in 199 seats. Only one seat out of 200 seats, is not going under polls today because of the death of the incumbent Congress MLA for the Karanpur seat in Sriganganagar, Gurmeet Singh Koonar. Kindly note that a total of 1862 candidates are contesting in the Rajasthan assembly election 2023. Among the total 1862 candidates, there are only 183 female candidates while 1692 candidates are male. Speaking of the number of voters, in Rajasthan a total of 52.5 million civilians have been registered as voters, including 17.1 million voters between 18 years and 30 years of age while 2.26 million new voters of age group 18-19 have been added to the total vote count in the state. The BJP has fielded seven of its MPs including Diya Kumari, Rajyavardhan Rathore, and Kirodi Lal Meena. Notably, Former CM Vasundhara Raje is also contesting from the Jhalawar constituency. Senior Congress leader and former deputy CM of the state Sachin Pilot is contesting for the Tonk seat where he is challenging BJP’s Ajit Singh Mehta.
