Call of Duty Legends Will Compete In The $25k Black Ops II Invitational

Veterans and rising stars alike will be gathering at Arlington, Texas's Esports Stadium on October 15th and 16th for a Call of Duty tournament. Black Ops II will be the twist that sees them competing in “somewhat randomized” teams for a $25,000 prize pool. A lot of people are looking forward to ‘The Off-Season' because it will feature some of the most spectacular players to ever compete in competitive Call of Duty over the past decade.

Additionally, they will be competing on what is generally agreed to be the pinnacle of Call of Duty multiplayer games. There isn't a tonne of time between the end of the 2022 season and the start of the 2023 season, but this tournament does a great job of making up the difference. There will be decades worth of combined Call of Duty experience on display at Arlington, thanks to the four teams led by eight all-star captains.

Back To Black Ops II

Call of Duty: Black Ops II made significant strides toward improving COD esports at the time. A single season on Black Ops II was potent enough to shape the future of the COD scene for years to come, and it is generally agreed that it was the best multiplayer platform in the game's history. On October 15th and 16th, 16 of the most legendary Call of Duty players of all time will return to the platform in an effort to win the lion's share of $25,000.

As of this writing, the following squads have been officially announced:

  • Team Scump: Scump, BigTymeR, Arcitys, Pristine
  • Team Karma: Karma, Rambo, Merk, Temp
  • Team Envoy: Envoy, Crimsix, JKap, ACHES
  • Team MBoze: MBoze, KiLLa

Many of the players featured on those four teams are high-caliber competitors at the world championship level. Take Karma, who has won three world championships and is thus dubbed “the GOAT.” He'll be competing against Crimsix, who has more Call of Duty victories than anyone else. Next, we have Arcitys, the highest-paid player in the history of Call of Duty esports, who is playing for the best team.

To be fair, none of the four teams has a major flaw, and some of the potential matchups are hilarious. Team Envoy, which includes the enormously popular players ACHES, JKap, and, of course, the recently retired competitor Crimsix, deserves special attention.

How To Watch The Off-season $25k Tournament

We only know that ‘three different streams' will be covering The Off-Season Black Ops II Invitational for now. Who will be hosting these streams have yet to be determined, but Hitch, Blake, and Jorge will be the main hosts for the actual event. Obviously, the event will be broadcast live on Twitch, but organizers may also consider adding YouTube to the mix in the hopes of attracting a wider audience.

This competition has the potential to go down in history for Call of Duty competitive gamers. It's a real-deal get-together of some of the industry's most legendary players, and it harkens back to the days when Call of Duty was just unrivaled multiplayer action.
