For the uninitiated, however, Bridgerton is a famous American historical romance series that can be watched online. Chris Van Dusen is responsible for making it for Netflix. The show, based on a series of books written by Julia Quinn, is the first scripted series produced by Shondaland for Netflix.

Furthermore, the series is centered on the titular Bridgerton family and is set in the cutthroat world of Regency-era London’s tonne during the social season when marriageable youth of nobility and gentry are introduced to society.

After premiering on December 25, 2020, to mostly positive reviews, the first season quickly became the most-watched English-language series in Netflix history, with 625.49 million hours viewed. With 656.16 million hours in its first 28 days on Netflix, the second season of Bridgerton was the most-watched English-language TV series ever.

Overall, the series created a cinematic universe dedicated to romance centered on the female point of view. As of April 2021, the show had been picked up for a third and fourth season. Here’s everything you need to know about Season 3 of Bridgerton.

Bridgerton Season 3 Release Date

Season 3 has not yet been given a premiere date by Netflix. The only consistent factor between seasons is that they are broadcast at two-year intervals. The first season premiered on December 25, 2020, and the second on March 25, 2022. Season 3 is currently being filmed and is expected to wrap in December 2022, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a 2023 premiere.

Bridgerton Season 3 Cast

Naturally, Nicola Coughlan will be back in her role as Penelope Featherington, her boyfriend Colin, her former best friend Eloise, and the rest of the Bridgerton clan. The part of Francesca, however, has been recast. Since Ruby Stokes has moved on to star in Lockwood & Co. on Netflix, the role of the Bridgerton sister will be played by Hannah Dodd.

For Season 2, we have Daniel Francis (Stay Close) as Marcus Anderson, Sam Phillips (The Crown) as Lord Debling, and James Phoon (Wreck) as Harry Dankworth, three new male actors. The latest addition to the cast is Hannah New, who will play Lady Tilley Arnold, a young widow who relishes the power and independence that come with running her late husband’s estate.

Regé-Jean Page, who played the seductive Duke of Hastings in the first season, will also not return for the third. The actor is over Bridgerton.

Bridgerton Season 3 Story

The show’s first two seasons were in sync with Julia Quinn’s storyline, but Season 3 will air out of sequence. This is because Netflix plans to adapt all the books into episodes, but they have yet to determine the best way.

Season 3 will jump to book 4, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, which follows Penelope and Colin’s storyline, rather than the third book, An Offer From a Gentleman, which follows Benedict’s (Luke Thompson) journey for love.

For those who thought Daphne and The Duke’s steamy Season 1 scene would be carried over into Season 2, Nicola Coughlan has promised plenty of sexy scenes if the show stays true to the book. So much so that, as reported by Digital Spy, the actress is contemplating requesting a particular PG cut for her family to enjoy.

In the carriage, there’s a dramatic scene. Even if they’re arguing and then things get very romantic, shall we say, I think that would be a great scene to include in the show. My stomach drops at the thought of filming, but it would be awesome.

As she went on, she said So, I’m aware that things get very steamy there. What’s going to happen, I’m prepared for it. From Shondaland and its new showrunner, Jess Brownell comes Season 3 of Bridgerton, in which Penelope Featherington has moved on from her longtime crush on Colin Bridgerton after hearing his disparaging comments about her in Season 2.

But now she knows it’s time to settle down with a husband, ideally one who will give her enough freedom to live as Lady Whistledown while keeping her far from her mother and sisters. Penelope tries her hand at the marriage market but fails due to her lack of self-assurance.

Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer adventures looking fresh and feeling more confident than ever. But now that he sees that Penelope, the one person who has ever accepted him for who he is, has turned her back on him, he feels dejected.

To regain her trust, Colin offers to coach Penelope on self-assurance so she can meet a suitable husband this year. However, when Colin’s lessons prove too effective, he must question whether or not his feelings for Penelope are more than platonic.

Penelope’s growing presence in the tonne makes it all the more challenging to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret, and her rift with Eloise, who has found a new friend in an implausible place, doesn’t help matters.
