Black Myth Wukong Release Has Been Revealed, Despite the Existence of a Dark Myth!

Black Myth Wukong: To mark the Year of the Rabbit, independent Chinese studio Game Science unveiled the Black Myth: Wukong release window in a stop-motion film. Black Myth: Wukong’s anticipated release date gives eager fans a clearer sense of how long they’ll have to wait to explore its fantastical world populated by legendary beasts.

Based on the renowned 16th-century novel Journey to the West, Black Myth: Wukong is an action role-playing game that depicts a Buddhist monk’s journey from China to the western areas of Central Asia and India.

The monk saw many mythical animals on his travels, including the monkey king Sun Wukong. The protagonist of Black Myth: Wukong, must overcome many obstacles on the path to the West with the Buddhist monk.

Game Science released a stop-motion film featuring rabbits playing Black Myth: Wukong in honor of the Chinese New Year and the start of the Year of the Rabbit.

In this comedic video, a rabbit upgrades his computer in anticipation of playing Black Myth: Wukong, only to find that the game has not been released.

A few years later, when the game eventually comes out, he sees a group of kids gathered around a giant screen, immersed in the action RPG. At its conclusion, the trailer reveals that Black Myth: Wukong will be available sometime in the summer of 2024.

Game Science packs plenty of humor into their short clip for Chinese New Year, including a disclaimer that the rabbit’s super-powered PC and Knidia NoForce PTX 12999 graphics card are not representative of the minimum specifications needed to run Black Myth: Wukong.

Players were pleased by the stop-motion style employed to reveal Black Myth: Wukong’s upcoming release window and the nod to classic desktop computers.

Black Myth: Wukong is not at all like the bunny-themed stop-motion animation. The action RPG features 4K visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5 and furious battles between the monkey king Sun Wukong and over a hundred adversaries.

Even though Black Myth: Wukong’s total complexity is unknown, the game’s early gameplay previews have drawn comparisons to action RPGs like Dark Souls and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

The developers of Black Myth: Wukong have stated that this is the first of a trilogy of games that will each center on a different classic Chinese myth.

Game Science’s goal in developing Black Myth is to expand its narrative scope to rival the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Launching in the summer of 2024 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, Black Myth: Wukong is sure to please.
