Beyond Good and Evil 2: Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft are hard at work on the sequel to the action-adventure game Beyond Good and Evil 2. It comes before Beyond Good & Evil, which came out in 2003. Throughout its development, the media’s coverage of the game’s creation was marked by skepticism, speculation, and fear.
Even though the sequel was confirmed at Ubisoft’s E3 2017 conference, no release date or intended platform(s) were disclosed following a tease at Ubidays 2008. Some prominent gamers, like Jason Schreier, have called the sequel to Beyond Good and Evil “vaporware” due to the game’s protracted development and lack of a release date.
It took Beyond Good and Evil 2 until 2022—more than 15 years—to surpass Duke Nukem Forever (2011) as the game with the longest development time.

What is Beyond Good and Evil?
The action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Back in 2003, Beyond Good and Evil, was released on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and Personal Computer. Photojournalist Jade embarks on a large and varied adventure that includes stealth navigation, melee fighting, puzzle solving, photography, and even racing in her pursuit of the truth behind an alien conspiracy.
Although Beyond Good and Evil didn’t do well commercially, it was a critical and commercial triumph thanks to its polished art direction, exciting action, and engaging characters and story elements.
Thankfully, it became an absolute cult favorite, and in 2011, Ubisoft released a remastered HD edition of the game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Xbox One is also compatible with it, so you can play it on a modern system, if nothing else.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been developing since 2008, when it was initially revealed. Since then, there have been numerous hints and confirmations of the sequel’s progress. Ubisoft claims that development on the game has been ongoing since Rayman Legends’ release in 2013, despite having been temporarily interrupted due to technical difficulties.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 Release Date
While a release date and platforms have not been officially announced, we can anticipate that Beyond Good and Evil 2 will be available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox One X, Xbox One S, and PC. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated on an earnings call (via VGC) in October 2020 that the game is “progressing well” and that “the world is a fantastic world… after the departure of director Michel Ancel from the industry.”

This team has made great strides, and the game is improving rapidly. Ubisoft’s CFO Frederick Duguet refused to commit to a release window during an investor call in July 2021 (via GamesRadar.
While he didn’t reveal much, he did say, “We are progressing well with Beyond Good and Evil 2, but it’s too early to tell you anything at this moment.” Therefore, the exact date of its publication is currently unknown.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 Gameplay
Given the length of time since our last genuine look at Beyond Good and Evil 2, keep in mind that all of this is susceptible to change. We saw a trial of the game behind closed doors at E3 2018 and found out that it is a prequel in which a younger Jade plays the role of the antagonist. Players don’t have to stick close together to enjoy cooperative play in the game’s vast globe.
You can design your space pirate and sail on an adventure through the stars. From what we’ve seen so far, the game environment is tremendous and seamless, allowing you to travel from the ground level of a city to the upper atmosphere to the depths of space itself without ever having to wait for a loading screen.
You’ll start with various tools, including a melee weapon, a firearm, a shield, and a jetpack. Fun and valuable enhancements can be added to weapons. In the game, the player will have access to a fancy spyglass that can scope out danger zones before venturing in.
Dear Space Monkeys, we wanted to share an update; Michel Ancel has decided to retire from working in video games. Read on to find out more about our commitment to the high expectations you have for #BGE2:

As you hover over an enemy, details about them, such as their augments and abilities, will appear. Making use of this aids considerably in the execution of an attack plan. You can use it to look over a structure, figure out what it does, and decide if it’s worth targeting for a heist.
To show off the game’s melee staff combat and ship movement, the Beyond Good and Evil 2 developers later streamed some gameplay. In addition, the plot would feature new information about Jade from Beyond Good and Evil, DomZ, and the origin of the human-animal hybrids. It was confirmed that players would be utilizing their original characters.
Since departed the project, Michel Ancel confirmed that online play would be available for the game. This is in keeping with Ubisoft’s move toward live services to ensure continued user engagement. We don’t know if online play will function like Far Cry 5’s co-op, where two players take on the entire campaign together, or if it will be a standalone option with discrete bouts. In the latter case, please.
