Bayonetta’s physical Switch release has been pushed back to “the first half of October,” with only the My Nintendo Store receiving it. Nintendo UK and its European counterparts announced the delay via Twitter, despite the game’s scheduled to release today. We are now targeting an October 1st – 15th release window for the physical Bayonetta edition, available only through the My Nintendo Store. “We’ll have more details for you soon, so stay tuned. We regret any trouble this may have caused.”
To be clear, Bayonetta 1 was initially released for the Switch as a digital download alongside Bayonetta 2, which is the original game’s physical edition. The October 28 worldwide release date for Bayonetta 3 has not changed.
We are now aiming to release the physical edition of Bayonetta in the first half of October, exclusively on My Nintendo Store. Please stay tuned for more info. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

In response to this announcement, some fans have voiced their displeasure. It’s not clear how much stock will be needed for the physical release because you can’t pre-order it from the My Nintendo Store, as one tweet points out. Some customers may prefer to shop elsewhere.
Following the release of the underwhelming Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the news is a bitter pill to swallow. Because of “unforeseen logistical challenges,” the Collector’s Edition wasn’t available until after the game came out. The Collector’s Edition’s non-game items were supposed to be available for pre-order in September, but that hasn’t happened yet.
The Nintendo 64 controller for the Switch is also still unavailable.
