Apple officially unveiled the new versions of its operating systems for various devices a few months ago, including iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, tvOS 16, and watchOS 9.
When Apple formally releases the next-generation iPhone 14 series next month, the firm will likely release stable versions of the new operating systems. However, iPadOS 16 will not be available next month.
Apple has announced that the iPadOS 16 will not be available to the public until the iOS 16 for smartphones is released. “We have the flexibility to launch iPadOS on its schedule,” the firm claimed in a statement to TechCrunch. iPadOS will be available as a free software update this fall, following iOS.”

So far, the Cupertino-based tech company has released iOS and iPadOS concurrently. Still, there has always been the chance of Apple modifying the release timetable for the iPadOS since the software was separated from iOS and issued as an independent entity a few years ago.
The confirmation of the delayed distribution of the new iPadOS comes amid rumors that the company will have a separate product launch event for the new entry-level iPad and the iPad Pro in October. In September, Apple usually launches new iPad models alongside new iPhone models.
There are also worries regarding some of the new iPad’s capabilities that were announced when the program was first released. Many customers have expressed dissatisfaction with some of the new features, such as the Stage Manager for multitasking, pushing Apple to postpone the stable version until the issues are resolved.
Why The Delay?
According to Apple, this is a significant year for iPadOS, and as a platform created particularly for iPad, Apple has the flexibility to release iPadOS on its schedule. This, however, is not the only reason for the delay.
According to rumors, the new Stage Manager multitasking feature introduced into iPadOS 16 requires additional time to be addressed. Several developers beta testing the new software have criticized it for being problematic and incompatible with most iPads on the market.
What Exactly Is The Stage Manager Feature?
Stage Manager, billed as one of the primary innovations in the next iPadOS 16, is a multi-tasking function to organize programs and windows on your desktop.
It will automatically position the current window in the foreground, while all other relevant apps will be placed on the left-hand side of the window for quick access. Stage Managers will essentially provide a smooth and easy job transition.
