The former president of India, the late APJ Abdul Kalam was born on 15th October 1931 in Rameshwaram, Madras Presidency, British India which is now known as (Tamil Nadu, India). He was an Indian aerospace scientist and statesman who served as the 11th president of India. He has served as the president of India from 2002 to 2007. His full name is Abul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. He was born in a Tamil Muslim family. He was born to Jainulabdeen Marakayar and Ashiamma. His father was a boat owner and imam of a local mosque and his mother was a housewife. He was raised with three elder brothers and a sister.

APJ Abdul Kalam is also known as the Missile Man of India. He is known as the Missile Man of India because of his work on the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology. First, he started his career as a scientist and science administrator at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). In 2002, he became the 11th President of India with the support of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and India National Congress.
