To counter the allegations against Sharad Pawar, his supporter, and NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad responded with an emotional message. The MLA also emphasized how Sharad Pawar supported the faction despite being accused of leading the party like a personal fiefdom. Jitendra Awhad told media reporters in Nagpur, “It is not a question of technicalities and legalities, the question is about sensitivity. Sharad Pawar is the man who raised you and stood behind you like a rock. You used words that he was running the party like a personal fiefdom; these words are contradictory to Sharad Pawar’s character,” Further, he added Sharad Pawar has never done anything beyond democratic principles.
This statement from Jitendra Ahwad a day after the Election Commission called the rival faction of the NCP for a hearing over claims on the party symbol and name. Ajit Pawar became a rebel which led to the split of the party. Now one faction of NCP is led by Sharad Pawar and the other faction is led by Ajit Pawar who is the current deputy chief minister of Maharashtra. Ajit Pawar rebelled against Sharad Pawar and moved to the EC to claim the party name and symbol.
